Meet The Alpacas!

COLEMAN

SOUPY

PISTOL

Coleman is our "ambassador" alpaca and goes on visits to daycares, senior homes, schools, farmers markets, and wherever he's wanted!  He's named after Coleman Young, Detroit's first Black and longest-serving mayor.

Soupy is a little shy, but will definitely take peas from your hand!  He always has a silly look on his face and his favorite summertime activity is sitting in the wading pool.  He's named after comedian Soupy Sales.

Pistol is our resident shy guy, but he might surprise you and take a pea from your mouth!  He's named after Pistol Allen, Ann's friend and a Motown session drummer.

BEANS

MARVIN

GEORGIE

Beans may be small, but he's feisty!  He also does some alpaca visits with us for outdoor events.  Beans is the dad of Sparky and is named after Beans Bowles, a Motown sax player who created the Motortown Review, where artists would tour the country on a bus.

Marvin is so easygoing!  He's Beans' best friend and would love to meet you, too.  He's named for the great Motown singer Marvin Gaye.

Georgie wants everyone to know he's not a baby, he's just small!  He doesn't like peas, but will eat some leaves from our trees.  He's Emily's dad and is named after Ann's dad, George.

DELLA

FAYGO

SPARKY

Miss Della is the sweetest!  When you visit, she just might give you one of her famous hugs and not want you to leave!  She's the mom of Faygo and Kowalski, and grandma to Emily.  She's named after Detroit singer and actress Della Reese.

Did somebody say sassy teen mom?  Faygo is our rose-grey alpaca with blue eyes, and she knows she's all that!  You'll have a .01% chance of her taking any food from you; if you're lucky, she'll let you take her picture!  Faygo is Della's daughter, Emily's mom, and is named after Faygo, the pop made in Detroit.

Sparky is our Super Kid!  He was our first baby born on the farm, to Rosa and Beans.  He had some serious health issues in 2023, but has recovered nicely and is always running around!  He's named after Sparky Anderson, the Detroit Tigers manager and Baseball Hall of Famer.

EMILY

                                                          KOWALSKI

Emily is our friendly, talkative girl that was born on the farm to Faygo and Georgie.  Faygo didn't want to feed her, so she was bottle-fed for the first couple months of her life... now she's bigger than her mom!  She's still getting used to going out on visits with us.  Emily is named for Emily Gail, a longtime Detroit supporter and founder of the phrase, "Say Nice Things About Detroit!" in the 1970s.

Kowalski is the baby of the bunch born on the farm, by two weeks.  He's the son of Della and Morley and is a fun, bouncy boy!  He doesn't like to get petted; he'd rather run around with you!  Kowalski is named after the Kowalski Sausage Company, a Michigan staple with fantastic meats!
